Description

- Concours Winner
- One of 57 RHD examples built

The S2 was the first of the marque to carry the now legendary V8 engine. The body by Park Ward was viewed when new as it still is today; a bold, remarkable departure from previous Continental’s. A graceful design, it helped move the image of a company away of one stuck in its ways.

Chassis BC 54 BG was supplied by Jack Barclay Ltd to its first owner, Richard Thomas & Baldwins Ltd, a large steel manufacturer with its headquarters in London. However, there is a second name and address on the Barclay paperwork – Dr Latham of Fields House, Monmouth, a grand neo-Gothic house near the steel works. One can assume he was a senior member of the company.

Supplied new in Sand with a Beige hood, chosen options included a power hood, radio, electrically operated windows, 2 spare carpets and Dunlop Roadspeed tyres. A badge bar with three badges was also fitted.

Restored, over a period of years, by marque specialist Michael Hibbard, this is a truly magnificent example of one of the great post war Bentley’s. It was a no expense spared, body off restoration that, once completed, won its class at the 2019 Bentley Drivers Club concours. Today, few road miles has ensured it presents as well as it did when the restoration was completed in 2020. Finished in a light metallic silver over a deep red trim, this is one of the finest examples available and priced very sensibly indeed.
