FOR SALE; PORSCHE SUNOCO RSR // 3.8L 964 RACE ENGINE // LSD // DAYTONA RACE LIVERY

EQUIPMENT:
1970 911 T Chassis, 964 3.8L Engine With Throttle Bodies, Welded 2.8 RSR Steel Arch Flares, EB Motorsport 2.8 RSR Front And Rear Bumpers, RSR Front Strut Brace, Front Mount Oil Cooler, Genuine 1973 RS Aluminium Roll Cage, 15" Original Banded Porsche Wheels, Simpson Harnesses, Centre Fill Fuel Tank, 915 Gearbox, Wevo Gear Shifter and Selector, 930 Turbo Steering Arms, LSD Shorter Ratios, Internal Oil Spray, Motec M84 With Engine Wiring Harness, 1973 RS Brakes, Full Bilstein Suspension Setup

EXTERIOR:
Legendary in the motorsport world, the Penske Sunaco Porsche partnership was a powerhouse of its time, campaigning some incredible cars to historic wins with an iconic livery to match. Completed to a sensational standard, both visually and mechanically, this Sunoco RSR recreation looks every bit as eye-catching as the original endurance racer, built on a period correct base of a 1970 Long Bonnet 911 T.

Professionally converted to a 2.8 RSR widebody with a set period correct welded steel arch extensions as well as a pair of EB motorsport RS bumpers and a ducktail spoiler. Completing the exterior work the car was professionally repainted in a beautiful coat of Oxford Blue and fitted with a set of vinyls to accurately recreate the historic Sunoco livery.

Meticulously thought out the attention to detail and quality of the work speaks for itself, with the body fully reinforced using strengthening plates on torque tube mounts alongside new seals and an extensive list of parts to show this build was completed with no budget limitations in mind.

INTERIOR:
Further embodying the motorsport inspiration of this 911 it comes fitted with a genuine 1973 RS aluminium half roll cage (front half also included but not fitted) and period correct bucket seats. The RSR Inspired buckets were re-trimmed in a fantastic combination of black leather and fabric, which also spans the dashboard and lightweight style doorcards, with a set custom seat mounts fitted to provide further comfort and adjustability for the driver.

The familiar original Porsche steering wheel has been upholstered in fresh black leather and backs onto the classic 5 dial instrument cluster on the dash board.  This is where the 'standard' 911 design stops and the race interior begins, with the addition of a Wevo Gear Shifter and selector, a huge yellow sun stripe on the windscreen and race harnesses to secure both driver and passenger into their seats.

ENGINE:
While cosmetically this Sunoco recreation is completed to a period standard the mechanical work stems from a far more modern era, with engine upgrades that propel this RSR into a different league to the original RSR. Fitted with a 964 3.8L race tuned engine, running on throttle bodies, power output has been dyno'd at 350+ bhp, which is mighty considering the featherweight nature of this 70s bodied 911.

Underpinning the race tuned engine this example benefits from a front mount oil cooler, internal oil spray and a Motec M84 management system, connected to a 915 5-speed gearbox, WEVO gear selector and a Limited Slip Differential with shorter ramp ratios.

Turning the key reveals the sum of the vast mechanical upgrades, with the noise from the RSR exhaust system roaring through the cabin as the revs build to create a raucous, riveting driving machine. Having covered less than 3k miles since the £20k+ engine was installed, the race spec drivetrain is in first class condition..

WHEELS:
Finishing off the period style of the car a set of 15" original Porsche Fuchs alloys sit in pristine condition, adorned with matching  18/16R15 Michelin TD Radial X's sticky rubber.

Premium Bilstein suspension has been professionally set up to keep the car flat and body under control, whilst the OEM 1973 RS brakes do a fine job of bringing the featherweight RSR to a stop.

HISTORY FILE:
Starting on the base of a 1970 Porsche 911 T this incredible project has been a labour of love for the owner, who purchase the car in 2015 with the sole idea of creating their vision of the ultimate 2.8 RSR. Utilising some if the UK’s finest Porsche specialists, including EB Motorsport, Heritage Autowerks and Neil Bainbridge no detail has been left to chance, with the 3.8L race built engine alone costing in excess of £20k to build and install.

A working and long running project it has been used, seen and admired at multiple events over the past 5 years by its enthusiastic and Porsche obsessed owners. Freshly treated to a respray in a correct shade of Oxford Blue this project has finally been completed and now sits in almost excellent condition.

Present with the car is a selection of invoices, full engine build sheet, comprehensive specification list and a V5.
